Who: Rock Fest is absolutely thrilled to announce the most recent and most anticipated artist to the Rock Fest line up. With requests coming in for years to see this artist, we are extremely overjoyed to announce the addition of our Saturday night headliner at Rock Fest 2010! This all-American rock singer-songwriter, musician, painter and occasional actor is known for his rootsy, organic brand of heartland rock that is infused with catchy hooks and evocative, introspective lyrics. He has sold over 40 million albums worldwide and has amassed 22 Top 40 hits in the United States. In addition, he holds the record for the most tracks by a solo artist to hit number-one on the Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart, with seven, and he has been nominated for 13 Grammy Awards. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2008 and is the recipient of both the Woody Guthrie Award and ASCAP Foundation’s Champion Award in recognition of his social activism and role in founding Farm Aid. If you haven’t already guessed by the impressive and respectable introduction, Rock Fest is pleased to be featuring John Mellencamp as the Saturday headliner at Rock Fest 2010. A true American icon, this will be his first appearance at Rock Fest and the event coordinators couldn’t be happier that he chose to play their festival! Fans have been aching to catch a glimpse of John Mellencamp on the Rock Fest stage, and now they’ll have their chance to sing along to some of the most recognizable music in American history from such hits as Jack & Diane, Small Town, Pink House and Crumblin' Down to Rain On The Scarecrow and his recent spate of evocative album releases including last year’s critically lauded T Bone Burnett-produced Life Death Love and Freedom.
